MICHIGAN CITY - Robert "Bob" Kolodziejski, age 79, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at home. Bob was born on October 11, 1934, in Michigan City, IN, to John and Edith (Kluge) Kolodziejski, who preceded him in death. He married Jeanine Mae Johnson on January 29, 1955, in Michigan City, IN, who preceded him in death. Bob is survived by his special friend: Jean Caddy; children: Kevin (Leslie) Kolodziejski, Kim (John) Donoghue, and Kari Epple; grandchildren: Derek, Stacia, Olivia, Elyse, Austin, Carson and Rylan; great-grandchild: Parker; in-laws: Robert, Judy, Donald and Margaret Johnson; sisters: Sandy (Rich) Fraley and Sue Krause; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was also preceded in death by his brother: William Kolodziejski; mother- and father-in-law: Dorothy (Hahn) and Mike Johnson. Bob was a member of the Hoosier A Ford Club and Star Righters Square Dance Club. He belonged to the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railroad Employees. Bob was a member the Michigan City Moose Lodge #980 and was a former member of the Naval Reserves. He was a former police commissioner for Trail Creek, member of the Trail Creek Booster Club and former president of the South Shore employee credit union. Bob served as a volunteer for Maple City Cadets. He was captain of the Michigan City Elston football team and attended Valparaiso University on a football scholarship. "Bobby K" worked 44 years for The South Shore Railroad where he had many different responsibilities. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a kind, loving man who touched the lives of everyone he met, and he cherished his family and relationships more than anything in the world. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2013, at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN 46360, and on Saturday, January 18, 2013, from 10:30 to 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Ave., LaPorte, IN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2013, at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, LaPorte, IN, with Pastor Evan Lash officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church of LaPorte, IN, in Bob's name or to the family.
