Granger - Edward J. Sawka, 75, of Granger, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 15, 2021. He was born September 7, 1946, in Detroit, MI to the late Mary (Olson) and Edward J. Sawka, Sr. On August 22, 2003, in Hawaii, he married Brenda (Casper) Sawka, who survives.In addition to his loving wife, Edward is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Russ) Hamilton and Stephanie (Tracy) Lynne; stepdaughter, Ashley Hunter; sons, Edward Sawka III, Shawn Sawka, Kristopher Sawka and Eric Sawka; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane and Pamela; and brother, Keith (Lisa). Edward proudly served in the United States Army. He was employed as a manager at K-Mart for over 38 years before retiring from the company. Edward loved spending time with his family and friends and was fortunate to have had the opportunity to watch his grandson, Ethan, grow up. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, and cooking. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, November 19, 2021, in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until the time of the service in the funeral home. Graveside services with military honors will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
