SOUTH BEND - Robert Raymond Turk Sr., 78, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014, in the Milton Home. Robert was born May 16, 1936, in South Bend, to the late John and Blanche (Michalski) Turczyn-ski. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters: Irvin, Virginia, Margaret, Deloris, John, Joan, Eugene, Mary Ann and Barbara. On December 2, 1961, Robert married Patricia Ann (Cooreman) Turk of South Bend; she survives along with their children, Raymond R. (Brenda Fack) Turk of South Bend, David (Rebecca) Turk of South Bend, Robert (Katherine) Turk Jr. of New Carlisle and Areta (Todd) Skwarcan of South Bend; brother, Norbert (Barb) Turczynski of New Carlisle; and grandchildren, Melissa, Ryan, David, Michael, Brandon, Alina, Gabrielle and Ike; and numerous nieces & nephews. Robert was a graduate of Washington High School, where he proudly played on the State Champion football team in 1953. He honorably served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Labrador. Robert and his family moved with the Torrington Company to Connecticut and South Carolina and after 43 years of service, he retired. Robert was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Bob and Pat traveled and camped 42 states. Bob loved the outdoors: he enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with "the boys." Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Visitation for Robert will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 25, 2014, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 26, 2014, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vasculitis Foundation, P.O. Box 28660, Kansas City, MO 64188.
