Valerie "Peggy" Bridgewater, 86, of Regency Place, formerly of North Edison Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, march 13, 2002. She was born in South Bend on Sept. 12th, 1915, to Jacob Kwitek and the former Theresa Szymanowski.
On Dec. 27, 1941, in South Bend, she married Walter J. Bridgewater Sr., who preceded her in death on March 12, 2000. She is survived by one son, Walter J. (Merry) Bridgewater Jr. of South Bend; two granddaughters, Holly and Jamie Bridgewater, both of South Bend; one sister, Louise Smith of San Jose, Calif.; and one brother, Stanley Kwitek of Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Bridgewater had been employed by Bendix Home Appliances Inc. during the war in 1946. She was also a member of VFW #9820 Auxiliary.Family and friends may call in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, with services beginning at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow, with burial at Riverview Cemetery.
