NORTH LIBERTY - Frank E. Kotal, 73, of 30837 St. Road 4, North Liberty, died at 4:15 a.m. in his residence May 4, 2009 after an extended illness. He was a longtime area farmer. He was born in South Bend (Greene Twp.) on Sept. 8, 1935, to Joseph E. and Frances (Gruber) Kotal, both preceded in death along with brothers, Joseph and Henry; sisters, Margaret VanDeKeere and Genevieve Semak. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Dooms of South Bend, Helen Trippel of Mishawaka, Hildegarde (Bob) Firestone and sister-in-law, Gloria Kotal, both of North Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. May 7, 2009 in St. Patricks Catholic Church, Walkerton officiated by Fr. Pius N. Ilechukwu, pastor. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 in the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
