Joan M. Siade

ELKHART - Joan M. Siade, 80, of Elkhart, died Monday, December 20, 2010, at home. She was born on November 21, 1930, in South Bend, the daughter of John P. and Blanch (Malkowski) Turczynski. Joan worked as a nurse's aide at Memorial Hospital for several years, and also was a licensed beautician for over 20 years. She retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. after 16 years there. Joan was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church; she enjoyed polka dancing and cooking, and was devoted to her family. She cherished her roles as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan is survived by her husband of 58 years, Sy Siade; her son, Dwaine (Wanda) Siade of Edwardsburg, MI; daughter, Dawn Marie (James) Christie of Walkerton; grandchildren, Adam Siade of San Diego, CA, Jeremy Siade of South Bend, Mindy Siade of Edwardsburg, Ashleigh Christie of Walkerton, Brittanny Christie of Plymouth, Joshua Christie of Walkerton; and her great-grandson, Branden Christie. Joan is also survived by her brothers, Norbert (Barb) Turczynski of New Carlisle, Robert (Pat) Turczynski of South Bend and Gene (Linda) Turczynski of South Bend; and her sister, Barbara (Bill) Ford of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia, Marge and Dolores, and her brothers, Irvin and John. Mass of Christian Resurrection at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Road, with calling one hour prior to Mass. Calling also 4-8 p.m. today in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy., with a Rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. Entombment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
