Benjamin J. Prentkowski
November 22, 1922 - April 5, 2015
Benjamin J. Prentkowski, 92, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 11:02 a.m., Sunday, April 5, 2015, in Hospice House. Benjamin was born on November 22, 1922 in South Bend to John and Blanche (Golihowski) Prentkowski, and was a lifelong resident. He retired from RACO in 1986. Benjamin had also been employed with Studebaker and White Farm Equipment. On April 12, 1947 he married Esther Piasecki, who preceded him in death on November 30, 2004. He was also preceded in death by six sisters, Edna Febbo, Adeline Susjnara, Dorothy Arpasi, Jean Petrocelli, Irena Prentkowski, and Bernarda Prentkowski; and one brother, John Prentkowski, Jr. Benjamin is survived by three daughters, Karen (John) Wolfe and Judy (Charles) Rupert both of Walkerton, Indiana, and Connie (Joseph) Kwiatkowski of South Bend, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Michael Wolfe, Wendy Wolfe, Stacy (Robert) Abbott, Kim (James) Lowman, Kelly (John) Lester, Craig Kwiatkowski, and Brian (Jessica) Kwiatkowski; seven great-grandchildren, Taryn Hite, Gunnar Wolfe, Ashley Lester, Conner Lowman, John A. Lester, Evan Lowman, and Kennedy Kwiatkowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, where Military Services will be conducted. A visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Benjamin was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish. He was a W.W.II Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #357; V.F.W., D.A.V., and the St. Joseph Young Men's Society.
