Frank was born in Germany to parents Bernard and Maria Catharina Hufnagel Lange. He emmigrated to the United States in 1872 and married Mary Grobbel. Their children include Louise, Elizabeth, Frank, Mary Ann and Clementine. After Mary Ann's death, Frank married Agnes Sieke. They had eight children - Susan, Alma, Henry, Catherine, Bernard, Lawrence, Herman and John.
