Editor of the local Hungarian newspaper, Varosi Elet [City Life].
According to the 1920 census of South Bend, Indiana, Vendel Hajdu, born in Hungary, immigrated in 1910. He was living with his sister and brother-in-law, Teresia & Flory Horvath. (The 1930 census indicates he immigrated in 1913.) In 1922, he, a widower, married Elizabeth Gerencser, a widow. Refer to Elizabeth's memorial for their shared biography. After Elizabeth died, Vendel married again. The 1940 census of South Bend includes Vendel and "Marie" Hajdu, both born in Hungary. His wife, "Mary Hajdu", served as the informant for his 1942 death certificate.
