SOUTH BEND - Ervin G. Derda, 91, of South Bend, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016. Ervin was born in South Bend, Indiana, on May 10, 1924, to the late Walter and Mary Derda. Ervin was employed at the Bendix Corporation in South Bend for 38 years. Along with his parents, Ervin was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Derda, sister-in-law, Imogene Derda, brother-in-law, Burel Dorsey, brother-in-law, Roy Heald, and son-in-law, Ronald Biskupski. Surviving Ervin are his five daughters, Deborah Lavalle of South Bend, Jean Leszczynski (John) of South Bend, Rosemary Gudates (Robert) of Wisconsin, Carol Biskupski of South Bend, and Patricia Lesniewicz of South Bend. Ervin is also survived by his ex-wife, Rita Derda, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and sisters, Dorothy Heald of Florida, Eleanore (Malcolm) McGregor of California, and Rita Dorsey of South Bend. Ervin was a World War II Army veteran, a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, The American Legion Post 284, Four Lakes Country Club, and M.R. Falcons. Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or services. He will be interred at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone at Southfield Village Nursing Home who cared for or was a friend to Ervin, and to The Center for Hospice Care.
