Paul Joseph Mroczkiewicz, 90, passed away while surrounded by his family on Wednesday evening, February 10, 2021 at his residence in South Bend, IN. He was born on August 17, 1930 in North Liberty, IN, to Louis and Helen (Strzelec) Mroczkiewicz, both of preceded him in death. On October 6, 1951 in South Bend, Paul married Elizabeth “Betty” (Vargo) Mroczkiewicz, who survives. In addition to his loving wife of 69 years, Paul is survived by his son, Larry (Deborah) Mroczkiewicz of South Bend; daughter, Paula (John) Dauss of South Bend; and son Tom Mroczkiewicz of Elkhart, IN; five grandchildren, Karrie Mroczkiewicz, Ryan Dauss, Ashley Miller, Eric Mroczkiewicz, and Sara Mroczkiewicz; three great grandchildren, Rayne Miller, Adelle Miller and Vera Miller; and sister, Rose Ann Geddes of Florida. Paul was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kristol Mroczkiewicz; four sisters; and five brothers. Paul was a union carpenter for Reinke Construction, working much of his life on the campus of Notre Dame on numerous projects. He was an exceptionally talented woodworker and carpenter who executed many projects for his family and friends. He volunteered in the community as a carpenter, usher and more. Paul was a member of St. Joseph Young Men’s Society. He served his country honorably in the United Stated Army during the Korean War. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Thérèse, Little Flower Catholic Church in South Bend. Mass of Christian Burial for Paul will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 19, 2021 at St. Thérèse, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:00 AM on Friday at the church. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Contributions in memory of Paul may be donated to Heartland Hospice, 230 W. Catalpa, Suite D, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
