Maria L Hamilton was born on February 17, 1953, in South Bend, Indiana. She passed away on January 13, 2022, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Maria is preceded in death by her brothers, Mark and Michael Hertel of South Bend. She leaves behind her mother, Betty Hertel of South Bend; her sisters, Regina Piechocki of South Bend and Madonna Walters of Elkhart; her brothers, Paul Hertel and John Hertel of South Bend. She leaves behind three children, Sherry (Brian) Neff of Marshall County, Brian (Tara) Hamilton of Cassopolis MI, and Teri (Marvin) Kennedy of Elkhart. Maria leaves behind her eleven grandkids and fourteen great grandkids, who knew her as “Bamu”. Sherry’s children: Kristina (Ben) Ellis and their four children of Honolulu HI, Steffanie (Zac) Riffle and their three children of Elkhart IN, Matthew Weber of Marshall County, Kristopher (Krista) Weber and their child of Elkhart County. Brian’s children: Ashley Binder and her two children of Eau Claire MI, Amber (Ronnie) Henderson and their three children of Winter Haven, Florida, Allissa Hamilton and her child of Crawfordsville. Teri’s children: Andrew, Alexander, Aaron, and Aric Kennedy all of Goshen. Maria, who was often known as Marie, enjoyed long days at the lake, boating and watching the sunsets. She was also a lover of gardening and being barefoot at the park on the swings. Visitation will be Saturday, January 22nd at 4pm followed by funeral services at 5pm at Chapel Hill in Osceola.
