SOUTH BEND - Martin D. Switalski, 53, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 in his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Marty was born May 22, 1961, in South Bend, to Melvin and Delores (Zag-rzejewski) On April 18, 2014, Marty married Anna Boiko. She survives along with his mother, Delores T. Switalski; stepchildren, Diana Boiko, Tricia Britton and Lance Johnson; granddaughter, Destiny Bartels; brother, Mark (Cynthia) Switalski; sister, Denise Kimsey; and nieces and nephews, Kelly Miller, Sean (Elizabeth) Miller, Melissa Switalski and Miles Switalski. Marty was employed with Schurz Communications for the last 25 years and previously with Clark Equipment. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Ball State University in 1983 and an Executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame in 1992. Marty was a former board member of Aids Ministries. He very much loved traveling to Europe and the Caribbean with his loving wife Anna. He also enjoyed quiet time fishing and enjoying life at his "Chalet on the St. Joseph River." Since his diagnosis Marty spent his time ferociously living life. Marty Switalski, "Rock Star" to his family and many others, Gone Too Soon! The family would like to give a special thank you to Michiana Hematology & Oncology for their dedication and loving care provided to Marty over the past 2 years. Visitation for Marty will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, April 16, 2015, in St. Casimir Catholic Church where Marty attended grade school and was an altar boy growing up. Entombment will follow at St Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to AIDS Ministries of Northern Indiana. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
