Robert B. Deavers, 79, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 4:21 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at his home. Robert was born on October 23, 1941 in Kingwood, West Virginia to the late Okey B. and Kathleen (Bowley) Deavers. He has resided in South Bend for the last twenty years. On August 19, 1967 in South Bend, Indiana he was united in marriage to Sandy Lorincz Deavers who survives. Along with his loving wife, Sandy, Robert is survived by his two daughters, Deenna (Mike) Eley of Huntington Beach, California and Dodi Ward of South Bend; five grandchildren, Noah, Josh and Micah Eley all of Huntington Beach, California, Brittany Ward of Massachusetts and Kaylin Ward of New Mexico. Also surviving are his twin sister, Barbara (George) Wilson of Hendersonville, North Carolina and his brother Okey (Jean) Deavers of Salem, Ohio. Robert was preceded in death by his brother Karl Deavers. Robert graduated from Kingwood High School in 1959. He served in the United States Army from 1964-1966 and spent three months in Vietnam. Robert attended and graduated from Western New Mexico University in 1970. He lived in Americas, Georgia for a year and a half, then moved to Woodland, California where he lived for the next 30 years. In 2001 Robert moved to South Bend. He was an avid golfer and served as a volunteer and councilman for Northern California Golf Association. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2021 at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services.
