SOUTH BEND - Nancy Jo Cira, 57, residing in South Bend, passed away at 12:45 pm Friday, October 27, 2017, at her home. She was born November 18, 1959, in South Bend, to the late Joseph A. & Rose T. (Panzica) Cira, and was a 1978 graduate of Marian High School. She graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis, with a BA in Communications and minor in Political Science. While living in South Bend, she was a faithful member of St. Matthew Cathedral. Nancy worked in the Promotion Dept. and as an announcer for WSBT in South Bend, United Way of Marion County, and for the State of Indiana Tourism Bureau. Most of all, she enjoyed working as Residence Director for Governor and First Lady Frank O'Bannon. Following the passing of her father, Nancy lovingly cared for her mother Rose until her passing on March 13, 2017. Her father, Joe, passed away May 25, 2013. Nancy is survived by her two brothers, Patrick J. (Sue) Cira of South Bend, and Michael A. Cira of Columbia City, IN; uncles, Joseph Panzica, and Anthony (Irene) Panzica, both of South Bend, Robert (Mary Ann) Cira of Granger, and Norb Hintz of South Bend; along with several nieces, a nephew, and many cousins. Nancy loved music, and attending concerts with her brothers and friends. She liked many artists, but especially liked Blues, and Eric Clapton. When she was younger, she enjoyed ballet dancing and riding horses. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am Saturday, November 4, at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami St., South Bend, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Interment will be next to her parents at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be said at 6:30pm on Friday.
