Susan L. "Sue" Leach
July 15, 1949 - April 17, 2012

MISHAWAKA - Susan L. "Sue" Leach, 62, of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. Sue was born July 15, 1949, in Mishawaka, a daughter of Jack and Joan (LaBlanc) Crandell. She spent most of her life in Mishawaka, and was a 1967 graduate of Mishawaka High School. Sue was a server at Pizza Hut for many years, was an assistant for several oral surgeons in the area, and was a longtime consultant for Home Interiors. She was also a caregiver for family members as well as for others. Sue was a member of First Baptist Church in Mishawaka. She organized the Family Readiness Group at the Plymouth and South Bend Armories. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and flower and vegetable gardening. Sue married Teddy "Ted" Leach on February 12, 1981, in Mishawaka, and he survives. Also surviving are six children, Christon Watson of Mishawaka, Wesley (Valerie) Leach of Buchanan, Micheal (Cindy) Gillam Jr. of South Bend, Debra (Gus) Jernigan of Niles, David (Anna) Gillam of Mishawaka and Aaron (Teka) Leach of Mishawaka; her mother, Joan Crandell of Mishawaka; three sisters, Nancy (Ken) Finch of Osceola, Jackie (Bruce) Horein of Wakarusa and Annette Lynch of Mishawaka; 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her father and a grandson. Friends may spend time with Sue's family Friday from 5 - 8 pm in the Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka. Services honoring Sue's life will be held Saturday at 12 noon in the funeral home, with Pastor David Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Memorials are suggested to Southerncare Hospice or to Riverbend Cancer Services. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
