Darlene R. Mohacsek, "Mama Moe", 83, of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 7, 2015.
Darlene was born on Sept 5, 1931 to the late Arthur and Nettie (Ortman) Mead. On Sept. 4, 1954 she married Anthony Mohacsek. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Anthony, their children Michael Mohacsek and Carol (Paul) Zehner, and her 2 grandsons Tony Mohacsek and Dustin Zehner all of South Bend, her brothers Dennis Mead, Jack (Janet) Mead, Richard Mead and Donald Mead, and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Harold Mead, a sister June Gardner, brother-in-law Red Gardner and sister-in-law Joyce Mead. Darlene was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She worked at J.C. Penney in the drapery dept. for 23 years. Darlene enjoyed baking, cooking, spending time with family and being her grandsons' biggest fan in whatever they did. The family would like to send special thanks to Dr. David Clayton, the entire staff at Hospice especially her Hospice Nurse Kendra and Health Aide Kenya who's beautiful voice gave Darlene comfort and peace. Also, to the nurses at Memorial Hospital 10th floor for the loving care provided. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 and from 9-10 a.m Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with family member Deacon Joseph Illes presiding and Mother Terry Bays assisting. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Center for Hospice, 111 Sunnybrook Ct, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
