WALKERTON - Helen M. Lazarek, 96, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at IU Health LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, IN. Mrs. Lazarek was born March 4, 1917 in Walkerton to Fred and Gertrude (Barden) Bellinger and lived in the area all of her life. On November 13, 1948 in South Bend, IN, she was married to Edward J. Lazarek, who preceded her in death in 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Edwards and grandson, David Foster. Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn (Peter) Luther of LaPorte; two sons, James Foster of Mansfield, OH and Thomas (Carolyn) Foster of Walkerton; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one brother, John Bellinger of Florida. Mrs. Lazarek was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, Walkerton and a member of the St. Patrick Women's Club. She was a former 4-H leader for ten years and a former competition dancer at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in South Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. (Central Time) at St. Patrick Church, Walkerton with Rev. Father Pius Ilechukwu officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Central Time) and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. CT at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel where a Rosary Service will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church.
