Mrs. Sophie Jean Marganti, 86, of La Porte, died at 10:05 a.m., on September 10, 2011 at IU Health La Porte Hospital. Mrs. Marganti was born May 15, 1925 to Blaze and Sophie (Janas) Cholewa. On February 26, 1943 in LaPorte she married Adolph “Ad” Marganti who preceded her on August 11, 1998. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a homemaker and had worked at Allis Chalmers and Bastian Morley Company.She enjoyed family gatherings and had a love for animals.She leaves behind one sister, Jean Cashman of Summerfield, Fla., one brother, John Cholewa of La Porte, Ind. and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents, husband, one son, Ronald Marganti, one sister, Ann Szynal and one brother, Albert Cholewa.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, September, 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. David Kime officiating.A prayer service will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 5:30 p.m.Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Essling Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pine Lake Cemetery, Wednesday following the mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 C St., La Porte, IN 46350.
