SOUTH BEND - Frank J Farkas Sr. of South Bend, Indiana died on September 22, 2016 at The Center for Hospice Care. Frank was 91. He was born on January 12, 1925 in Port Huron, Michigan. He is survived by his wife Sylvia A. Farkas. They just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on September 4, 2016. Frank worked as a truck driver at Roadway for 30 years and retired at the age of 57. He then dedicated his time as a chauffeur for the retired Sisters of Holy Cross at St. Mary's Convent. He served as a member of VFW 360, the Teamsters #364, Our Lady of Hungary, American Legion 272 and 357, Chihuahua Club of America and Michiana Kennel Club, and past member of William Penn Club. Frank is also a WWII veteran and played the bugle in the U.S. Army. A one of a kind man, Frank was a very fun loving person and enjoyed life to the fullest and telling jokes. He will be greatly missed. Frank is survived by his children Frank Jr (Barbara), Mary Margaret Wieczorkowski, Martha (Steve) Friedrich, Ellen (Brad) Dunlap, Tom (Vicki) Gleitz, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm Monday, September 26, 2016 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Cremation will follow. Family and friends may call from 2-6 Sunday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 4:00pm.
