DOWAGIAC - Donald A. Golichowski, 85, of Dowagiac, MI, formerly of South Bend, IN, began life on January 7, 1926, in South Bend, the son of Alex and Rose (Chudzicki) Golichowski. He was a graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington, with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Donald served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Holewczynski on February 14, 1953, in South Bend. Donald was the executive secretary of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' Association of Michiana, Inc., retiring in 1994. He had also worked for The Associates in South Bend as a tax accountant. Donald was a parishioner at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sister Lakes, and a Red Cross volunteer. He was a skilled woodworker, and a carpenter at heart. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends. His loving family includes his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Golichowski; daughter, Lori Jean; son, Gary Golichowski; grandsons, Michael and Reed Oei; and granddaughter, Scarlett Daniels; sisters, Ruth (Clem) Holewczynski, Rosemary (Robert) Bella and Lorraine Nowak. Donald passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at his home. He was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Szymanski. His family will gather with friends on Saturday, October 8th, from 9-10 a.m. at St. Anthony de Padua Church (2114 E. Jefferson, South Bend), where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday by Father David Ruppert.
