South Bend - Nancy Wachowiak, 65, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019. Nancy was born June 15, 1954 to the late Harry & Virginia (Lang) Wachowiak-Cossel. Nancy was also preceded in death by a sister, Karen Jane Palmer and an uncle, Eugene Lang. Survivors of Nancy include her sister & brother, Nora and Matthew Cossel; nephew, Austin Cossel; uncle, Larry (Sherry) Shannon; her lifelong friend, Shirley Smith; and many extended family members. Nancy worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital for 30 years then for various nursing homes until final retirement. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Nancy was a lifelong member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and was a USBC Bowling member. She enjoyed league bowling and tournaments, reading, and vacationing at Mackinaw Island with her sister Nora. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at a later date. St. Joseph Funeral Home, Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family.
