Joan Marie Phillips, residing in Bremen, IN; passed away early Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022 at the age of 91 years old. She was born February 28, 1931 in Granger, IN, a daughter of the late Etienne & Madeline (Beauprez) VanDenbroucke, and has remained a lifelong resident of this community. On November 4, 1950 in Mishawaka, she was united in marriage to Sidney Phillips. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage until his passing on April 28, 2019. She is survived by her three children, Cheryl (Glen) Heiser of South Bend; Gary (Donna Rinker) Phillips of Bremen, and John (Luann) Phillips of Mishawaka, along with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Joan graduated from St. Joseph Academy. She worked as a sales clerk at West End Bakery in Mishawaka for more than twenty years, and was a longtime member of Community Baptist Church and served as a youth leader. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, at Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Road, South Bend, with Rev. Joe Fant officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
