Margaret A. Freitag, 73, passed away following an illness at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8. Mrs. Freitag was born on Feb. 11, 1926, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Burneice (Hutchinson) and Harland H. Moore. She retired in 1991 from the South Bend Water Works as a payment processor. She had also been very active in the St. Joseph County Democratic Party. She is survived by four daughters, Mary M. (John M.) Rammel of Evanston, Ill., Anne E. (Dewight) Annable of South Bend, Ind., Jane F. (Russell, II) Lorenz of Plainfield, Ill., and Lisa B. Freitag of South Bend; three sons, Erik L. (DeAnn) Freitag of Alameda, Calif., Paul F. (Sharon) Freitag of Springboro, Ohio, and Nicholas C. (Shelly) Freitag of Granger, Ind.; 14 grandchildren also survive along with two sisters, Patricia Minnes of South Bend, Ida Flaherty of Sun City, Ariz., and by a brother, Donald (Barbara) Moore of Medina, Ohio. Margaret was preceded in death by a son, John H. Freitag in 1970; and by two brothers, H. William Moore and Thomas Moore. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Homes, Council Oak Gardens Chapel, 21275 W. Cleveland Road, near Portage. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 11, in Little Flower Catholic Church. Cremation will take place and burial later at Highland Cemetery.
