MISHAWAKA - Martha P. Toepp, 90, of Newburg Drive, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Hospital. Mrs. Toepp was born Feb. 22, 1904, in Duluth, Minn., and lived in the area since 1908, coming from Duluth. On June 23, 1925, in South Bend, as Martha Patricia Scanlon, she married Dr. Frank C. Toepp Jr. He died Jan. 19, 1953. She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Toepp Smith of Port Richey, Fla.; two sons, Dr. Frank C. and Dr. John B., both of South Bend; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, the Alumni Club of Saint Mary's College, and former member of Circle of Mercy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the church. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of St. Joseph County Inc. or Circle of Mercy. South Bend Tribune 11/16/2004
