SOUTH BEND - Nancy J. Gorbics, 80, of South Bend, IN, was called home to be with the Lord at 11:06 AM on Saturday, April 14, at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Nancy was born on April 2, 1932, in Greenville, TN, to Clarence Craven and Effie (Johnson) Craven, and has resided in the Michiana area for 22 years, coming from Cross Plains, TN. On July 21, 1962, as Nancy J. Craven, she married Robert A. Gorbics in South Bend, IN; he survives. Mrs. Gorbics is also survived by four daughters, Eve McQuade of Greencastle, IN, Betty M. (William) Arnold of White House, TN, Karen S. (Robert) Vineyard of Oregon and Ellen L. (Mike) Schaupp of Longview, WA; two sons, John A. (Linda) Bickerstaff of Moorpark, CA, and Bobby A. (Linda) Smallwood of San Antonio, TX; and one sister, Hilda M. Miller of Roswell, New Mexico. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Craven and Effie (Johnson) Craven. Nancy loved to collect coupons, read the Bible, and spend time with her family. There will be no visitation and no service. Nancy's wishes were to be cremated, and her family honored those wishes. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Gorbics family.
