Dolores J. Siwek, 77, formerly of Beale Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 9:35 a.m. in Hospice House. She was born on March 4, 1926, in Michigan City, Ind., to Vincent and Mary Ann (Kulka) Koziatek, who preceded her in death. On June 8, 1946, Dolores married Joseph S. Siwek, who is deceased. A brother, Vincent Koziatek Jr. is also deceased. Dolores is survived by a son, Michael (Patricia) Siwek of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four daughters, Patricia (Robert) Couch of South Bend, Deborah (Timothy) Cunningham of Buchanan, Mich., Julie (Garry) DeYoung of New Carlisle, Ind., and Mary (Douglas) Henion of South Bend; 12 grandchildren, Jenny Stiel, Anne Hoekstra, Peter, Mike and Joe Siwek, Kelly Ritchey, Sara Hall, Robbie, Courtney and Kyle Couch, and Tyler and Karen Henion; two step-grandchildren, Michelle DeYoung and Holly Harenza; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Adeline Iwaszewski of South Bend and Lorraine Dobrzykowski of Mishawaka.
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society and Hoosier Grandmothers Club. Dolores enjoyed crocheting afghans, playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be on Monday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Entombment will be at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association of St. Joseph County, Hospice of St. Joseph County or Holy Cross Church. The family would like to thank all of the people who have assisted Dolores over the past few years while she was ill.
