SOUTH BEND - Harold Zisla, 90, the middle son of Barney and Rebecca (Weisberg) Zisla, died on March 18, 2016, in his home. He was born on June 28, 1925. He married Doreen Edelman on Aug. 13, 1946. She survives along with daughter, Beverly Zisla Welber (Michael), and son, Paul Barney Zisla (Debra), three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and several grand-nieces and nephews. A gifted painter, Harold graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art and Case Western Reserve University, was an industrial designer at Ball Band, a division of Uniroyal; executive director of the South Bend Art Center (now the South Bend Museum of Art); faculty member at IU South Bend for 23 years, serving as the first chair of the Fine Arts Department; and recipient of numerous awards for teaching and community service.In 2015, his family launched haroldzisla.com to showcase his work and achievements. Per his request, cremation will take place with no services.
