Joseph H. Paege
March 14, 1918 - August 19, 2010
South Bend - Joseph H. Paege, 92, took the hand of his Lord and his wife in Heaven at 4:50pm on Thursday, August 19, 2010 in Cardinal Nursing Home.
Joseph was born on March 14, 1918 in South Bend to the late Harry and Martha (Andrzejewski) Paege. On July 8, 1950 in South Bend he married Virginia M. (Nowicki) Paege, she preceded him in death on May 28, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his brother Larry Paege and by his sisters, Helen Paege, Laverne Fordor, and Mary Eichorst. He is survived by his long time caregiver and niece, Karen (Clarence) Collier of South Bend; niece, Sharon (Leo) Six of Niles, MI; many great nieces and great nephews; great-great nieces and great-great nephews; his sister, Carolyn Spradlin of South Bend; and by his two brothers, Harry (Esther) Paege of South Bend and John (Pam) Paege of Osceola. Joseph graduated from Riley High School. He was an accomplished violinist locally and in Chicago he played for weddings, concerts and for the Sisters of Holy Cross. He enjoyed fishing with his niece Karen. The family would like to thank Fr. John, Fr. Paul, and Fran from St. Jude's for their prayers and support. They would also like to thank Harbour Lights Hospice and Mick for the music he played for Joe Thursday afternoon and the staff at St. Joseph Funeral Home for their kindness. A special Thank you' to the nurses and staff of Cardinal Nursing Home for their exceptional care of Joe. Visitation will be from 11:30am to 1:30pm on Monday, August 23, 2010 in St. Catherine of Sienna Parish St. Jude Catholic Church where a Funeral Mass will begin at 1:30pm. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. For those who are unable to attend the Funeral Mass, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net
