SOUTH BEND - Barbara Retek, 96, of Transitional Health Services, formerly of 433 Albert St., died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday in the nursing home. Mrs. Retek was born May 18, 1898, in Czechoslovakia, and lived in South Bend since 1921.On Jan. 15, 1923, in South Bend, as Barbara Kara, she married Alex Retek Sr. He preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Helen A. Lehman of South Bend; a son, Alex Jr. of South Bend; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. until services on Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Presbyterian Church.
