MISHAWAKA - Alex R. 'Murphy' Grudzinski, Sr., 91, "a good man", passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 surrounded by his loving family in the Hospice House of Elkhart. Alex was born on January 27, 1921 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Leon and Kasmira Grudzinski. He proudly served his country, serving in the U.S. Navy. During his active work life he was employed by the Studebaker Corp., Oak Ridge Dairy, and Mishawaka Utilities, retiring from I&M . His hobbies included bowling, gardening, and fishing, which he passed on to his children. He was a life-member of VFW post #360. Alex is survived by his children: Alex R. Grudzinski, Jr., of Mishawaka, John M. (Marlene) Grudzinski, of Mishawaka, and Bridgette A. (Dannie) McKay, of Elkhart. Also surviving is ex-daughter-in-law, Brenda Grudzinski. He was a grandfather of 7: Alicia, Melissa, Emily, Nathan, Jeremy, Edward, Margo and Jessica; and a great grandfather of 17: Christopher, Ian, Leif, Justin, Ty, Brandon, Zoie, Adriana, Brody, Mikayla, Dawson, Jaden, Cassidy, Corey, Mark, Teslea, and Stormy. He was preceded in death by his wife, June; a sister, Katherine Bonkowski; and a brother, Joseph Guerdon. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, July 29th in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, from 2 until 6 pm, and one hour prior to the Mass in the church. A Mass of Christian Burial is to be held on Monday, July 30th at 2 pm in St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Ave., with Msgr. Bruce Piechocki officiating. Burial is to follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation C/O Elkhart Hospice House, 4220 Edison Lakes Pkwy., Ste. 210, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
