CUMBERLAND, MD - William Howard Dreibelbis, 82, of Cumberland, died May 20, 2021 at the Cumberland Healthcare Center. Born September 25, 1938 in South Bend, IN, he was the son of the late William and Irma (Hegyi) Dreibelbis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette (Lynch) Dreibelbis; a brother, Nick Carlo; and two sisters, Roseanne Singleton and Kathleen Lesher. Mr. Dreibelbis had served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the U.S. Post Office, having been a branch manager. He was an avid Civil War and Revolutionary War buff. He loved Notre Dame football and basketball. His other love of sports was of the Indianapolis 500, having attended the race for more than 50 years. In addition, he enjoyed hiking and being close to the mountains. Survivors include his children, William I. Dreibelbis and wife Linda, John M. Dreibelbis and wife Sandy, Daniel A. Dreibelbis and wife Ali, and Deborah K. Lieske; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a sister, Monica Eblen; and, several nieces and nephews. A service will be held at MSVC-Rocky Gap on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 11 AM. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard. Published in South Bend Tribune on May 29, 2021.
