SOUTH BEND - Elsie J. Blondia Weaver, 99, passed away in her home on November 19, 2010, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born on December 12, 1910, to Emma Coddens Blondia and Alfons Blondia in their home on Walnut Street in South Bend, Indiana. On November 26, 1931, Elsie married John T. Weaver at St. Bavo's Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Her husband passed away on December 1, 1972. Also preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Julius Blondia; and her son-in-law, Maynard Nelson. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Nelson of Greenville, Texas, and her son, Donald (Sue) Weaver of Mishawaka. She had six grandchildren, Angela (Brett) Kocsis, Kenneth (Samantha) Weaver and Kevin (Anita) Weaver, all of Mishawaka, Julie (Barry) Robinson and Dr. Jeffrey (Beth) Nelson of Greenville, Texas, and Mark (Kay) Nelson of Tomball, Texas. There are fifteen great-grandchildren, Kari (Scott) Robinson, Adam (fiancé Jessie Stogdill), Emily, Chase and Kaylee Weaver, Ashley and Jessie Kocsis, all of Mishawaka, Eric (Kristy) Robinson of College Station, Texas, Stacie (Aaron) Bray of Santiago, Chile, Kyle (Kaci) Nelson, Kirk, Sara and Nick Nelson, all of Greenville, Texas, Nicole Nelson of Houston, Texas, and Mitchel Nelson of Tomball, Texas. Elsie also had four great-great-grandchildren, Anna and Isabella Robinson of College Station, Texas, Jillian Nelson of Greenville, Texas, and Micah Bray of Santiago, Chile. As a child, Elsie lived on a farm in Madison Township and graduated from Madison Township High School in 1929. In 1942 she and her husband moved to the farm where she resided until her death. She was known for mowing her grass around the farm and her house until October of this year, she was also well-known for her beautiful flowers. Elsie was a charter member of the Elm Grove Homemakers Club, serving as its president and secretary for many years. She was also a member of the Mishawaka Women's Club, the Mishawaka Federal Breakfast Club and Farm Bureau. She was also a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church. She always enjoyed attending her children's, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's school activities. Rarely did she miss a sporting event, concert or play. She and her husband worked side-by-side on the farm, and in the early 1940s her husband began electrical work. Elsie passed away three weeks before her 100th birthday. Her family will hold close to their hearts the amazing memories that were made during her nearly 100 years of life. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 24, at 10 a.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, John.
