Ruth was born on May 15, 1933, in Mishawaka, to the late Peter and Margaret (Maenhout) Van Driessche. On September 4, 1965, she married her lifelong love, the late James R. Walkowski at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Ruth is survived by her four daughters, Annette C. Walkowski, Sheila (Steve) Houghton, Pamela E. Walkowski, and Dore (James) Rajski; and a son, James (Melissa) Walkowski; eight grandchildren, Nathan Walkowski, Rachel Rajski, Shelby Houghton, Samuel Rajski, Andrew Walkowski, Spencer Houghton, Katie Walkow-ski and Isabella Rajski; four sisters, Harriet Vollmer, Helen (Robert) Coleman, Catherine (David) Smith and Lou (Charles) Weisweaver; and two brothers, Don (Barbara) Van Driessche and Gerald (Rhetta) Van Driessche. Ruth was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, PNA Club of South Bend, the BK Club of Mishawaka, TOPS, and the Warren Township Fireman's Auxiliary Club. She was also a member of Golden Gang Bowlers and the Red Hat Society. With a strong sense of family, Ruth will be remembered in her early days always surrounded by family at Chain-O-Lakes Conservation Club and in her later days soaking up the sun with family and friends at "The Lake" during the day and playing cards in the evening. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 28, from 2 to 6 with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.
