Robert F. LeeVan
September 12, 1936 June 12, 2010
South Bend Robert F. LeeVan, 73, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010.
Robert was born on September 12, 1936 in South Bend to the late Frank and Gertrude (Sciba) LeeVan. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret LeeVan Andrie on May 21, 2004; his sister, Rita Hayes; brother, Herman LeeVan and by his sister-in-law, Louetta LeeVan.
On October 24, 1959 he married Lucia (Lopinski) LeeVan. She survives along with their four children, Michael LeeVan of South Bend, Michelle LeeVan of Waterford, MI, Steven (Christa) LeeVan of Granger and Greg LeeVan of South Bend; son-in-law, Michael (Kathryn) Andrie of Columbus, IN; four grandchildren, Rachel Andrie, Casey LeeVan, Nicholas Andrie and Bethany LeeVan; two sisters, Peggy (Larry) McGowan of South Bend and Sharon (Dave) Bogunia of South Bend; his brother, Ray (Dorothy) LeeVan of South Bend; his brother-in-law, Tom (Jeannie) Hayes and by many nieces and nephews.
Robert graduated from Purdue University in 1958. He was a Mechanical Engineer for AM General, retiring in 2006. Robert was a member of The Knights of Columbus #553 and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church, where he was a member of their Usher Club. He loved watching his grandchildren's activities, and he enjoyed gardening and following Purdue and Notre Dame sports. Robert was an avid blood donor. He served as a United States Army Reservist achieving the rank of Captain.
Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Road., South Bend, IN 46619 or to American Cancer Society of North Central Indiana, 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617.
