[N4887] Dorothy Rose Kowalski Weller
Dec. 6, 1923 - June 12, 2015
SOUTH BEND - Age 91½, born December 6, 1923, Dorothy was welcomed by our Heavenly Father and our Dad into eternal peace on June 12, 2015. Dorothy was a loving, caring wife, and a loving, caring, nurturing Mother. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish, the Daughters of the American Revolution, a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Boy Scout aide, a Bluebird and Camp Fire Girl aide, a devoted newspaper carrier, belonged to many civic organizations and was always volunteering her energy, her time, her money and efforts to helping those who were in need. She and our Dad's goal in life were to bring as many people into the Christian faith as they could, having 8 children of their own and raising 9, assuring we were all put through Catholic school from kindergarten through high school. They taught us to believe in and love God, to never be prejudiced and to love our neighbors as ourselves. They succeeded. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, Robert Peter Weller; her parents, Frank and Anna Kowalski; six brothers, Harry, Stanley, John, Irvin, Frank and Bernard Kowalski; three sisters, Francis as a 4-year-old, Irene and Mary; a much loved daughter-in-law, Karen Chinn Covin Weller; her nephew raised with us Walter Lee Brock, a niece, Patsy Kowalski, and a beloved great-niece, Karsyn JoAnn Bell. She had many, many friends who are up there greeting her now. It will take days and months or more just for her to get through the meet and greet part. She was so loved by all. Dorothy is survived by eight children, Carolyn Ann (Ronald) Borkowski, Joan Marie (John) McLane, James Michael Weller, Therese Anne (Michael) Garling, Robert Dennis (Ann Marie) Weller, Steven Weller, John Weller and Brian (Karen) Weller; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grand-children. Visitation for Dorothy will 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 16, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, 17475 Dugdale Drive, South Bend, Indiana, whose caregivers took care of our Mother until her last breath with the utmost tender love, or to St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, 1050 Wilbur Street, South Bend, IN 46628.
