SOUTH BEND - Surrounded by her loving family Rosalie M. Kovach, 90, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at home. Rosalie was born April 15, 1925 in Frankfort, New York to the late Frank and Mary (Frank) Datena. On November 18, 1950 Rosalie married Stephen J. Kovach; he preceded her in death on July 5, 2012. Rosalie was also preceded in death by her sisters, Josephine, Nancy, and Donna; and brothers, George and John. Survivors of Rosalie include her children, Nancy Villanueva of South Bend, Mark (Jill) Kovach of Granger, Craig (Ruthie) Kovach of Mishawaka, and Michaeleen (Jay) Conlee of Niles; grandchildren, Damien (Donna) Villanueva of South Bend, Jon Jon Villanueva of South Bend, Ryan Kovach of Granger, Shayne Kovach of Mishawaka, Jaymie (Michael) Cramer of Osceola, Allyson (Jeff) Blanda of Cheyenne, WY, Drew Kovach of Mishawaka, Nichole (Ben) Werner of Granger, Stephen, Christopher, Matthew, and Daniel Conlee of Niles; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Recchio of Frankfort, NY; and brother, Frances (Norma) Datena of Elkhart.
Rosalie was employed with Chauncey's Restaurant for over 35 years. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church for 60 years, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for Maurice Matthys Little League. She enjoyed making food and crafts for church events. She always had a smile. Rosalie loved her Italian heritage, often saying “I am Italian you know”. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation for Rosalie is 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in St. Patrick Catholic Church with a one hour visitation prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor St., South Bend, Indiana 46601.
