LAPORTE - Patricia Jane Byrd, 60, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in her home. On August 29, 1954, in South Bend, Indiana, she was born to Joseph and Bernice (Strzelecki) Gorny. Patricia was a former member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in LaPorte. She loved playing Bingo on her Kindle and her computer. Patricia's grandchildren were the loves of her life. On November 8, 1975, in LaPorte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she married Larry Byrd, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Janice (Chris) DeLee of Kingsbury and Scottie (Melisa) Byrd Sr. of Fish Lake; four grandchildren, Hope, Abbigail, Scottie Byrd Jr. and Jared DeLee; father-in-law, Charles (Dean) Johnson of Michigan City; sister-in-law and best friend, Debra Johnson of La Porte; sisters-in-law, Brenda (Dale) Kilgore, and their children, of Michigan City, and Brenda Gorny and her children, Justin and Kody of New Carlisle, Bonnie Byrd of FL, Tommy Byrd of MI, Debbie Mylan of MI and Juanita Burrows of Monroe, Louisiana; many friends; two brothers, Joseph (Gerrie) Gorny of South Bend and John (Sandy) Gorny of North Liberty; and two sisters, Joyce (Sonny) Sobieralski of Mishawaka and Gerrie (Bob) Kromkrowski of South Bend. Preceding in death were her parents; two brothers, Robert and David Gorny; and mother-in-law, Verna Johnson. A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100, with Fr. James Rosselli officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 2 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Please send condolences to the family at www.LakeviewFHC.com.
