===========
On Sep. 13, 1904, Rev. M. J. Biro, Pastor of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, married Andrew Konya, 22, son of Stephen & Maria (Szabo) Konya, and Maria Kara, 17, daughter of Andrew & Maria (Anderko) Kara. (Records of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana, as transcribed by Chris Kovach in "Hungarian Immigrant Collection" on St. Joseph Co. INGenWeb.)
According to the previously cited church records (as well as census records), the children of Andrew and Mary (Kara) Konya included (in birth order): Andrew, Stephen, Maria who died young, Irene Erma, John, Joseph, Louis, and Anna.
Their census records indicate that Andrew and Mary Konya had both been born in Hungary, and that Andrew had immigrated in 1900 or 1901, and Mary, in 1902 or 1903.
Andrew and Mary Konya parted in the mid-1930s. (divorce index, sbags.org as well as Mary's 1949 death certificate)
Andrew's date and place of death and place of interment are from his Indiana death certificate for which his son, John Konya was the informant. It was John's understanding that his father, a glazier, had been born in Hungary on Oct. 8, 1884.
