Lois Marilyn (Scherer) Silveus was born on Sept. 18, 1935 in Olney, Illinois to Edmund & Edna (Stretch) Scherer. She died on February 17, 2013, after a long illness. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1953. On May 23, 1954, she married Gerl Glen Silveus, Jr., of Osceola, IN at the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mishawaka, IN. He survives along with their 6 children: Marilyn Nash of South Bend, IN, Marsha (Michael) Vinson of Mishawaka, IN, Marla (Steve) Foster of Edwardsburg, MI, Kurt (Shelley) Silveus and Andrew (Jodi) Silveus, both of Osceola, IN and Melissa (Gerry) McGowan of Glasgow, Scotland. Their 11 grandchildren: Ashley (Scott) Leeper of North Carolina, Holly Young of Edwardsburg, Abby (Robert III) Lord of Goshen, Katherine (Robert) Jones of New Jersey, Alyssa Young of Edwardsburg, Rachel Vinson of Osceola, Andrew (Megan) Silveus, Jr. of No. Carolina, Taylor Silveus of Osceola, Dakota Hartz of Mishawaka, Gabriel Silveus of Osceola, & Morgan Hartz of Mishawaka. Eight step-grandchildren: Michelle (Larry) Ives of Osceola, Stephenie (Rick Schaffer) Klosowski of Pennsylvania, Tom (Lory) Foster of Indianapolis, Angel Healy of Georgia, Daniel Foster of Florida, Larry (Leah) Leslie III of Elkhart, Justin (Danielle) Leslie of South Bend, and Kirsten McGowan of London, England. 5 great-grandsons and 15 step-great-grandchildren. Her “other kid” Debra Sue Wilkerson of South Bend. She is also survived by her two sisters, Doris (Wade) Tucker of South Bend and Thelma Bjork of Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by her parents, a baby sister, Marjorie, and a step-great-grandson, Kole Klosowski. Lois was very active in her church. At various times she was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, a member of the choir, President of the women’s group and a member of their Board, member of the church Council, and member of the Altar Guild. For over 22 years, she collected door-to-door in her neighborhood for the March of Dimes. She also was a precinct judge on election days. Visitation will take place from 4:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, February 21, 2013 in the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, 16495 Ireland Road, Mishawaka, IN with one hour of visitation prior in the church. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the First English Lutheran Foundation, 16945 Ireland Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46544
