GRANGER - Harry was born on Nov. 11, 1921, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Frank (Kwiatkowski) Flowers and Rose (Ringelski). On Aug. 5, 1944, he married Irene Przybysz (So Bend, IN). He was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Cionek; and by his eight brothers, Frank, Henry, Joe, Flory, Pete, Edward, Clem and Sigmund. He is survived by his two sons, Tom (Cheryl) Flowers of Zionsville, IN, and David (Lisa) Flowers of Granger, IN; and four daughters, Sharon O'Connor of Stilwell, KS, Linda (Ron) Thibault of Stilwell, KS, Diane (Carlon) Scherzinger of Terre Haute, IN, and Janis (John) Myers of Mt. Pleasant, SC; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Harry was a native of South Bend, IN, working at Studebaker while later retiring from Bendix. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps First Division as a combat infantryman in World War II. He survived the attack on Pearl Harbor while also fighting in numerous landings of the Pacific campaign. Harry loved to work, exercise, play with his grandchildren, and cheer for old Notre Dame. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 pm Sunday, December 15, 2013, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Funeral services for Harry will be held at 11 am Monday, December 16, 2013, in the funeral home, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Harry and his wife were members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3616 St. Johns Way.
