SOUTH BEND - Dorothy H. Nyari, 93, passed away peacefully after a long illness at 8:44am Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Dorothy was born on July 22, 1924 in South Bend to the late Victor and Helen (Walkowiak) Zalas. On August 1, 1942 in South Bend, she married Louis A. Nyari who preceded her in death on December 5, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Edward Zakrocki; her sisterm Esther Szozechowski (2013); and her only son, Dennis on October 3, 2015. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Sue Nyari; grandchildren, Shari (Nino) Vega and Tammy Nyari; great-grandchildren, Haley (Dylan) Ebersole, Katyln Carbiener, Vincent Vega, and Tori Vega; and great-great-grandchildren, Brayden, Hollyn, and Addilyn. Dorothy retired from RACO after 37 years and then from the University of Notre Dame. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation. Private graveside services will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.
