OSCEOLA - Zelma I. Yoder, 89, of Osceola, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. at Golden Living Center of Fountainview in Mishawaka. Zelma was born November 25, 1921, in Jimtown, Elkhart County, Indiana, to the late Levi and Laura (Plank) Paulus. She was a 1940 graduate from Jimtown H.S., where she was also elected Homecoming Queen. She married Harold "Tom" Yoder on May 24, 1941, in Jimtown; he preceded her in death on July 10, 1980. Zelma was also preceded by her brothers, Howard and Russell Paulus; two sisters, Daisy Selner and Mary Stamm; and her son-in-law, Roy Scheittecatte. She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Scheittecatte of Osceola, Sally (Robert) Wegnerowski of South Bend and Connie (Jerry) Young of Osceola; seven grandchildren, Devon (Darsha) Scheittecatte, Teri Scheittecatte-Clark, Sherry Scheittecatte-Hamel, Bob (Dawn) Cuskaden, Tony (Darsha) Cuskaden, Chris (Deanna) Wegnerowski and Vikki Welker. 25 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren also survive. Zelma was a 50-year member of the Osceola United Methodist Church; she was retired from Book World, where she had worked, 16 years at both the Elkhart and University Malls. In the 60s & 70s she worked at the Osteopathic Hospital, and in the 80s was working for Pickerel's Floral. She was a member of the Osceola Historical Society, the Committee / Ministry of Caring, and was a foster grandparent for Real Service with Noah's Ark at the Osceola United Methodist Church. Services will be on Friday, June 17, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 N. Beech Road, Osceola, IN 46561, with Pastor Robert Vale presiding. Burial will follow at the Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, June 16, 2011, in the Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola, and also one hour prior to services on Friday in the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Church or to the Jimtown High School Alumni, 59021 County Rd 3 S., Elkhart, IN 46517. The Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, Osceola, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
