MISHAWAKA - Christopher Eric Brunt, 52, of Mishawaka, died at 2:41 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, in his residence following a lengthy illness. Chris was born July 8, 1958, in South Bend, to Shirley (Pearsons) and the late Albert Brunt, and was a lifetime area resident. He is survived by his children, Angela Brunt and Christopher Brunt (Ashley), both of Elkhart, IN; four grandchildren, Christina, Stephen, Gavin and Fisher; his mother, Shirley Brunt of South Bend; four sisters, Carol Vogel of South Bend, Elizabeth Prokop (John) of Kannapolis, NC, Susan Fox (Kenneth) of South Bend and Nancy Janasiak of Granger, IN; and three brothers, Timothy Brunt (Linda) and Thomas Brunt (Marsha), both of South Bend, and Randall Brunt (Cindy) of Edwardsburg, MI. Chris also leaves behind his faithful friend and companion, his rescued dog, Molly. Chris was known for his voracious laugh, his never-ending sense of humor, and his card playing skills which teased everyone who ventured to play with him while leading them to believe that it was possible to beat him, when in fact it was nearly impossible to do so. From the time Chris was a little boy he loved to go fishing. Another favorite pastime was working in his yard. Chris fought a courageous battle with his cancer for more than two years. He will be remembered and loved by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. today, March 14th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. The family will receive friends today in the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com.
