INDEX

[N19937] Paul Szucs, Jr.
May 25, 1949 ~ December 30, 2007 (age 58)
The time for my departure has come. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:6-7. Paul "Doc" Szucs, 58, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2007 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, after a valiant, courageous battle with cancer while always maintaining a positive attitude throughout his illness. Survivors include his wife, Diane (Pietrzak) Szucs, daughters, Paula Szucs and Melissa (Robert) Holmes; and son Todd (Melanie) Szucs; granddaughters, Courtney and Brittany Szucs, and Keeley Szucs; grandsons, Hunter and Derek Holmes, all of South Bend. Also surviving are sisters, Norma (Donald) Toth of The Woodlands, TX; Ceil (Donald) Sherwood of Sarasota, FL; Sandra Szynski of North Liberty, IN; and Karen (Barry) Ukele, of Mishawaka, IN. Preceding Paul in death was his father, Paul L. Szucs, Sr., on November 12, 1985; mother Maxine (Whitaker) Szucs on March 22, 2003; and brother Thomas W. Szucs on May 20, 2005. Paul's was a life that ended much too soon but the wonderful memories we have by all who knew and loved him shall last forever. Wherever a beautiful soul has been... there is a trail of beautiful memories! He adored his family, especially the grandchildren, and will be remembered for his ability to instigate spontaneous laughs with a mischievous grin and a twinkle in his eye. Paul was employed for 27 years at K & F Printing in Granger, IN, and the last five years at St. Joseph County, Special Deputies Unit, where he considered his colleagues among his best friends and, in turn, they affectionately gave him the nickname "Doc". The family especially wants to thank all those employees of the county for the many, many acts of kindness that was shown to "Doc" and the family. "May God bless each of you a thousand times over."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, where a parish rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, envelopes will be available at the funeral home for donations to be made to The Northern Indiana Food Bank. So long "Doc". We love you and will keep you very close in our hearts until we meet once again. Death can take all things except one-love remains forever.
