Frank J. Giszewski
March 17, 1918 - June 22, 2000
Frank J. Giszewski, 82, of Shamrock Gardens, formerly of S. Douglas Street, passed away on Thursday, June 22, in the nursing center. Mr. Giszewski retired from Sobenite Plastics, South Bend IN. He was a World War II Army veteran; a member of American Legion Post 357; and was an avid ham radio operator, whose call letters were W9LPD. Frank was born on March 17, 1918, in South Bend. On January 19, 1945, in South Bend, he married Isabelle V. Ross, who died on March 30, 1982. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Clara Kwiatek. He is survived by three daughters, Fran (Dave) Bystry of Mishawaka IN, Susan P. (Marty) Keough of St Joseph MI, and Judith A. Giszewski of South Bend; three sons, James L. Giszewski, David A. Giszewski and Jon R. (Becky) Giszewski, all of South Bend; and by 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, June 24, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Cremation will follow, with burial in St Joseph Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4 to 8pm today, June 23, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice. SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE - June 23, 2000
