SOUTH BEND - Wanda Alice Matuszak, 92, died on Friday, November 27, 2009, in the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born Wanda Alice Zarembka on April 13, 1917, to Konstanty and Josephine (Piechorowski) Zarembka, who preceded her in death. On November 3, 1945, she married Henry C. Matuszak, who passed away on December 5, 2003. Her three siblings, Leo Zarembka, Matthew Zarembka and Henrica Wishing, preceded her in death as well. Survivors include her two children, Michael H. Matuszak (Stella) of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Barbara E. Carlson of South Bend, Indiana; her six grandchildren, Christopher Matuszak (Abbey) of Franklin, Ohio, Diana Hart (Clayton) of Stanford, Kentucky, Emily Matuszak of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Jennifer Jacob (Joe) of Granger, Indiana, Sarah Nyikos (Jeff) of South Bend, Indiana, and Andrea Underwood (Adam) of South Bend, Indiana; and her 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a parish Rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 3, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
