SOUTH BEND - John H. Sass, 93, passed away at 4:07 pm on Friday, September 28, 2012, in Hospice House. John was born on May 17, 1919, in Michigan City, IN, to Arthur and Carrie (Ruggles) Sass. On September 2, 1950, John married Claudette (Winkle), who passed away on October 20, 2010. John was also preceded in death by sisters, Shirley and Valerie, and a brother, Arthur. John honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post. He liked to play euchre, watch Notre Dame football and basketball, photography, fish, and spend time at his lake property and go to Vegas. John was a very meticulous and regimental man in everything he did, and treasured his wife, Claudette. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm today, October 2, 2012, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
