Dr. George E. Godersky

Dr. George Edwin Godersky, 82, of Columbus, Ohio, died on Thursday, Feb. 27, in his residence. He was preceded in death by is wife, Dr. Lois Godersky.He is survived by his children, Christine (Philip) Gubbins of Columbus, Ohio, Janet (Dr. Anthony) Ingraffea of Ithaca, N.Y., Dr. John (Barbara) Godersky of Anchorage, Alaska, Andrea (Thomas) Bose of Minneapolis, Minn., and Peter Godersky of Columbus, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dr. Godersky attended the University of Notre Dame, and graduated from Indiana University and the Indiana Medical School. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology in South Bend, Ind., from 1950-1994. He served as a captain in the Army Medical Corps during World War II, with General Patton, in the European Theater. He was a member of St. Matthew Parish, the Indiana Alumni Association, the Notre Dame Alumni Association, the American Medical Association and the St. Joseph County Medical Association. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, at Hickey Funeral Home on Cleveland Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Matthew Cathedral, with Bishop Crowley as celebrant. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery at Notre Dame. The family requests that donations in his memory be made to the Chapin Street Health Center of St. Joseph's Medical Center, 305 Chapin Street, or to St. Matthew School.
