SOUTH BEND - Delphine H. Florkowski, 94, of South Bend, passed away peacefully with family by her side and her beloved Cubs blanket on her lap, Thursday April 13, 2017 at the South Bend Hospice House.
Ms. Florkowski was born on October 11, 1922 to the late Stanley and Sadie (Ciesiolka) Markowski in South Bend, IN. Delphine was an avid sports fan. She loved her Cubbies, Bulls, Bears, and Notre Dame. She was a voracious reader and couldn't do enough crossword puzzles. Her days were filled with reading the paper, feeding her squirrels & birds, and watching them frolic through her window. She was quite witty and had a wonderful sense of humor. Delphine will forever be in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, especially her family, which she adored and loved most of all. Delphine is survived by her son, Jerry (Cecilia) Florkowski; 12 grandchildren, Cindy (Dan) Kizer, Ray Bonek, Candy (Brian) Rassi, Rick (Chrissie) Bonek, Roy Bonek, Eva (Chad) Herman, Louis Jakab, Sheri (Ed) Scheffler, Marry Gallagher, Greg (Kelly) Florkowski, Kim (Jim) Thompson, and Mike (Lori) Bieganski,; 36 great-grandchildren, Nathan (Tawn), Adam (Danielle), Rachel (Tony) Nicole (Travis), Ryan (Martina), Kyle (Laura), Marissa, Amy, Chris (Kayla), Matt (Melissa), Therryn (Isaiah), Tyler (Jordyn), Brent, Zachary, Carly, Stephen, Shawn, Christopher, Mason, Brody, Ethan, Secelia, Claire, Sophia, Eddy, Cameron, Emma, Ben, Grace, Amelia, Evelyn, Parker, Emily, Kyle, Olivia, and Lily, along with 17 great-great-grandchildren, Andie, Austin, Alivia, Alex, Chloe, Hailey, Riley, Alexander, Greysen, Marlene, Xander, Layla, Corbin, Makenna, Carter, Brooklyn, and Braelynn. Ms. Florkowski was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Jakab; infant daughter, Mary Florkowski; granddaughter, Kelly Bieganski; grandson, Zachary Gallagher; great-granddaughter, Nicolette Bieganski; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Elkhart Cremation Services are entrusted with Ms. Florkowski's arrangements. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, 11:00 am with visitation for friends and family one hour prior at St. Joseph Church located on 711 E.
